Citizen of the Month!
January 2002

Congratulations to Hallie Brooks!

The January Citizen of the Month is an individual who has given to others during their time of need.

Hallie Brooks has been a resident of Rapid City since 1982 when her husband, Melvon retired from the Air Force. She became involved with the Rapid City Regional Hospital's Cancer Care Institute when her husband started receiving care there. Hallie's love of knitting, along with the knowledge of how difficult it is to stay warm when a patient experiences hair loss, she has committed to providing 100 hand knitted caps each fall. She has donated over 200 hats to patients at the Cancer Institute in the past two years.

Karen Pochardt, CCI Director has said that Hallie's generosity is greatly appreciated by the many patients that receive her special gift. "This is truly a special positive effort to help the patients keep warm during the winter. "

Hallie's husband Malvon works for the State Social Services Offices and their son Ted also lives in Rapid City.
