The March citizen chosen to be recognized has committed her time and energy to help to make Rapid City a better place in which to live and raise a family.
Bonnie Schulte is originally from Huron and has lived the past 20 years in the Minneapolis area. She has been a resident of Rapid City since 1999 moving here to be closer to her sister, Bonnie Greenway and family. Bonnie joined the CASA Family in August, 2000 and has done a fantastic job with her cases. Bonnie totally believes that every child deserves to live in a permanent, loving and safe home. The CASA volunteers are the "eyes and ears" for the courts and is the "voice" of the child in court proceedings.
Despite obstacles in her life, personal or family, Bonnie has put her CASA kids on the top of her priorities. She has served on three cases ranging from severe physical abuse to alcohol neglect to sexual abuse and is not intimidated or scared to stand up and fight for what she believes in for the best interest of the child. Yvonne O'Day and David Romig who nominated Bonnie states that "Bonnie has a golden heart, surrounded by warm compassion and is treasured by us all."
Bonnie has two children, daughter Nicole
is married and lives in Brookings and her youngest daughter, Melissa
is a student at American University in Washington DC. |
