Congratulations to Darrell Hyde! |

In September, we are proud to present an individual who has gone above and beyond the volunteering commitment during this past couple of weeks during the Battle Creek Fire.
Darrell Hide is a volunteer with the Salvation Army. He has continually demonstrated his willingness to assist others in times of need. Darrell has given the Salvation Army a tremendous amount of hours of support throughout the last series of forest fires. Captain McClintock of the Salvation Army noted that Darrell had given over 70 hours in one week, "cooking breakfast, for 300 on one day, 450 on Sunday with very few helpers. He has become the anchor of our disaster response team."
Darrell has served on the canteen at the homeless dinner, the Rapid Creek Clean Up Project and is always willing and available whenever called upon. Throughout the year, Darrell serves the Salvation Army as a youth leader, chaperones youth outings and helps with maintenance of the buildings and vehicles.
Captain McClintock sums up his nomination of Darrell by saying, "I can't begin to tell you how valuable he is in just a few words, and he is a great role model to the young people and is of great character."
Darrell has lived in Rapid City since 1973 with his wife Darla and their two children, Kelly and Corey.
