The February 2005 Citizen of the Month is an exceptional individual who has touched the lives of many people. We are very pleased to present this Citizen of the Month award to Margaret “Peg" Seljeskog. Peg Seljeskog moved to Rapid City in 1993 and since that time has been a major influence in Rapid City. In the eleven years that she has been a citizen of our community, she has been a Board member and Immediate Past President of WAVI, a member of South Dakota Children’s Home Society, member and past president of the South Dakota Children’s Home Foundation, member at large of AAUW, co-chair of their used book sale, a Board member of the Journey Museum, and the Girl Scouts of the Black Hills Council. Peg has been a surrogate parent at the Black Hills Children’s Home, classroom tutor at General Beadle Elementary as well as various fund raising efforts at General Beadle, and served as coordinator for the medical alliance volunteers at General Beadle. She is a member of Calvary Lutheran Church. Her nomination points out that Peg is the “gold standard” for volunteers. As president of WAVI, Peg has shown time and time again her compassion for helping women, men and children who are victims of abuse through her countless hours of fundraising efforts for the new shelter. Peg is married to Ed Seljeskog and they have five children. |
