| In partnership with the Veterans Coordination Commission, we are pleased to present the December, 2004 Veteran of the Month – David A. Jungemann. David Jungemann entered the United States Air Force in June 1956 and served honorably until June, 1960. He re-entered the Air Force in 1961 and was stationed at various locations both overseas and in the United States. He retired in 1980 after serving a total of 22 years. During a nine-month period of Temporary Duty to Guam, he served in support of the ARC Light Missions over the Republic of Vietnam as a Bomb/Navigation Systems Technician. During his military career, David received numerous awards and medals that include the Bronze Star, Air Force Commendation Metal with Oak Leaf and others. Not only is David Jungemann a retired veteran, but also, a true advocate of veteran’s rights and benefits, standing up for the veteran, as a civilian and as a member of the retired community. David has been a member of TREA Chapter 29 for the past fourteen years, and is serving a second term as President of the Board of Directors. He has held numerous posts within TREA, serving on the TREA Senior Citizen League Board of Trustees national level for four years and two years as Chairman. He participates in numerous parades and ceremonies to honor the veterans of the United States. He serves as President of the Board of Directors for Zion Lutheran Church. He has been employed by the Douglas School System for 14 years and subsequently retired from service to the State of South Dakota. David and
his wife of 42 years, have two children Dawn Beltran of Box Elder and
Douglas Jungemann of Rapid City. They have three grandchildren and one
great grandchild. |
