Congratulations to
Roger L. Scott!


In partnership with the Veterans Coordination Commission, we are pleased to present the September, 2006 Veteran of the Month to Roger L. Scott.

Roger Scott, originally from Lusk, Wyoming entered the United States Air Force in 1966 where he was trained as a jet propulsion engine mechanic. During Roger’s 20 year career in the Air Force, he was stationed at Ellsworth Air Force Base for a total of 17 years. He was also stationed at Kirtland AFB, New Mexico, Thailand and Guam. Roger retired as a Master Sergeant in 1987.

Roger’s decorations and awards include: Air Force Commendation Medal w/2 Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award w/1 Silver and 1 Bronze OLC, Air Force Achievement Medal, Air Force Good Conduct Medal w/1 Silver OLC, National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Overseas Ribbon-Short Tour, Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon w/4 Bronze OLC, Air Force NCO Professional Military Education Graduate Ribbon w 1/Bronze OLC, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, Republic of View Nam Campaign Medal.

Roger Scott is a Life Member of the VFW and TREA and has served on the TREA Board of Directors as their Sergeant-At-Arms, 3rd Vice President, 1st Vice President and Honor Guard. He was one of the originators of the local TREA Honor Guard and has had the honor of participating in the opening/closing ceremonies at several Retired Enlisted Association National Conventions for several years. Roger is involved with the SAFE Halloween program and various military community events at different times of the year.

Roger has been married to Aleta Alter since 1967 and they have three grown daughters – Stacie, Miranda and Michelle. He is currently employed at the Rapid City Regional Airport as the Building Maintenance Chief.
