Rapid City’s annual Cruiser Night is sponsored by the City of Rapid City and the Rapid City Police Department, and will be held on Friday, June 8th, 2007. Cruiser Night will again kick off Black Hills Overdrive. Cruiser Night is a public event, and parents and teens are especially encouraged to come and cruise together; no registration is necessary to participate. This year’s Cruiser Night begins in the west parking lot of the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center. Starting at 6:30 p.m., cars participating in the Cruise will assemble in the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center C & D parking lots, and at 6:45 p.m. cruisers will begin staging on 8th Street.

It's the 2nd Annual Guns-n-Hoses Blood Drive June 27-30. Last year the RC Police Department defeated the RC Fire Department by bringing in 47 more pints of blood. On May 26, 2007, at approximately 1758 hours, officers from the Rapid City Police Department responded to a report of a car/pedestrian crash at the intersection of East Boulevard and New York Street. The pedestrian involved has been identified as Jeanette Peoples of Rapid City. She is currently in stable condition at Rapid City Regional Hospital. The driver of the 1998 Chevy pickup has been identified as Cara Pilgrim of Burkburnett, Texas.

The pedestrian involved in the crash was transported to Rapid City Regional Hospital with significant injuries. Her status at this time is unknown.

The Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics is scheduled for Monday, May 14 th, beginning at 11:00 a.m., in Rapid City. The run will begin in Memorial Park near the Berlin Wall. The run will conclude at the front steps of the Public Safety Building, 300 Kansas City Street, Rapid City, SD. At the conclusion of the run, Detective Warren Poches will read an executive proclamation declaring May 14 th, 2007 as “Law Enforcement Torch Run Day for the South Dakota Special Olympics” in Rapid City, South Dakota.
